About
My name is Trisha, and I'm excited to be your proofreader! I'm a full-time proofreader, specializing in transcripts for court reporters. I was always the kid who used the "big" words, and I could almost always answer when asked how to spell something. Now I enjoy helping my friends' kids proofread their school papers; and when I found transcript proofreading, I fell in love with it!
I read word by word to ensure that each one is spelled accurately, punctuation is correct to provide the best readability, and that the words fit the context. My proofreading includes light research for context, name spellings, addresses, and anything else. Every page is reviewed to make sure that every detail is accurate, including formatting and pagination.

Experience & Education
I have a diverse background of personal and professional experiences that provide a great knowledge base for proofreading. I have a history as a transcriptionist, trained in medical but experienced in all types of transcription. This has given me great experience with documenting the spoken word. I have kept my medical terminology knowledge refreshed with additional courses (if you don't use it, you lose it!). I also have worked in social work determining eligibility for public assistance services and as a legal secretary in family law.
I have a bachelor's degree in Family Studies with a Social Work minor from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and an associate's degree from Mid-Plains Community College. I also have a certificate of completion in Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice.

Personal
Faith and family are my priorities. Therefore, I do not work Sundays as they are reserved for those. I am a mom to a wonderful son. I am a homeschool mom, which I love; and it provides me the bonus of getting a refresher in some area of grammar every day! I am also a foster parent, and I have had the joy of caring for several little ones over the years.
Other areas of interest include reading, cooking, crocheting, documentaries, and traveling.
